Here's the story...
This bike is made from discarded and found objects.
The wheels are from a utility company cable spool that I found in a neighbors yard.
Decided to use two different size wheels just to make it look more like a kid bike.
The handle bars and the seat were part of a lawn chair.
The frame is made from recycled powdercoat hanging bars.
The pedal part is from some type of farm equipment.
Specifications:
length = 20 feet
height = 12 feet
width = 4 inches
This Bike has been wind tested with winds up to 70 - 80 mph. It held up very well. The intent when installed; the piece will have anchors installed in concrete for stability.
This piece has also been tested for viewer reaction. Comments like: WOW!, Did you see that!, Cool!, they turn around to see it again, stop to take pictures, and the neighbors all seem to appreciate it. It gets attention,people remember it, they talk about it, tell others and use it as a landmark.
I intentionally left the sculpture in a natural state (rust on wheels, old paint, etc.) to draw attention to the fact that it is a recycled metal sculpture.
To increase 'attention' potential...add color. This piece could be sandblasted and powdercoated. Imagine the wheels in one color (black, yellow, purple, etc.), the frame another color and the seat and handle bars another. Add moving christmas lights during the holidays and the wheel will look like they move.
A definate 'attention getter'.
This piece sells for a base price of $2,500.00.
The price changes if color is added, delivery destination distance (time and mileage) and installation complexity.
